​2019 Oneida County Stewardship Award Winners and Citizen Lakes Monitoring Network Volunteers Award Winners. 

These folks were celebrated at the Oneida County Land & Water Conservation Departments 11th Annual Stewardship Awards Banquet held on August 22, 2019, at Holiday Acres Resort in Rhinelander. 

Seventy-two people attended this year’s banquet to help celebrate Invasive Species Superstars, Local Lake Groups, Clean Boats Clean Waters Watercraft Inspectors and Citizen Lakes Monitoring Network Volunteers, for their extraordinary efforts to protect our lands and waterbodies in Oneida County!

About the Awards:
Stewardship Awards: Nominations for the Stewardship Awards are accepted for youth and adult individuals, couples, lake groups, and professionals for their dedication and incredible efforts at fighting terrestrial and aquatic invasive species as well as protecting the health of our lands and waterbodies in Oneida County.
Citizen Lake Monitoring Network Volunteers of Oneida County Awards: Recipients are Citizen Lake Monitoring Network program volunteers from Oneida County, who have completed 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 or more years for collecting water quality data on Oneida County waters and sharing information with fellow lake residents, the WI DNR, UW biologists and researchers, UW-Extension, and other interested individuals. Additionally, awards are given to the Century Club for 100 Secchi Readings and Pentacentennial Club for 500 Secchi Readings.  
 
Congratulations 2019 Stewardship Award Winners:
WENDY GOLDBACH (“Friends of the Lake” Stewardship Award) – For her incredible work as a Crescent Lake volunteer. She is “Queen of the Paddle Board” because of her countless hours on the lake searching for and removing EWM. Her creativity, reliability, & dedication to her work demonstrates her true value as a friend of the lake.

TERRY GOLDBACH (“Friends of the Lake” Stewardship Award) – For his work as an advocate, a loon nest foster parent, Crescent Lake Board member, liaison for invasive species and a member of the Crescent Lake First Response Team. His devotion to keeping our lake protected demonstrates his true value as a friend of the lake.

DAVID HARDT (Exceptional Lake Stewardship Award) –For leadership as Clean Boats Clean Waters Coordinator, protecting the water quality on Pelican Lake.  His work on numerous projects such as water quality testing, milfoil and zebra mussel surveys, and feature writing for the PLPOA newsletter display his passion for excellence. 
 
JON WILLMAN (Exceptional Lake Stewardship Award) – For tireless dedication in water quality testing, Milfoil & Zebra Mussel surveys, service on the Three Lakes Waterfront Association Board of Directors, the protection of turtles, and coordinating the operation of the TLWA AIS Rapid Response Dive Team as they work to hand harvest EWM from Virgin Lake on the Three Lakes Chain.
 
LINDA WOIAK (Exceptional Volunteer Leadership Award) – For performing over 40 hours of diving time this season as “Second in Command” with the Three Lakes Waterfront Association’s AIS
Rapid Response Dive Team, as they work to hand harvest EWM from Virgin Lake on the Three Lakes Chain.

DAN JESSE (Outstanding Lake Stewardship Award) – In recognition of extraordinary commitment, achievement, and lasting contributions to safeguard Squash Lake from the devastating impacts of Eurasian watermilfoil. Your expertise and years of tireless efforts to remove each plant in the most environmentally sound method possible, has successfully protected the lake’s ecosystem, recreational activities, fisheries, and property values, both now and for future generations.

FRED LINTEREUR (Outstanding Lake Stewardship Award) – In recognition of your extraordinary commitment, achievement, and lasting contributions to safeguard Squash Lake from the devastating impacts of Eurasian watermilfoil. Your expertise and years of tireless efforts to remove each plant in the most environmentally sound method possible, has successfully protected the lakes ecosystem, recreational activities, fisheries, and property values for both now and future generations.
 
RACHEL LINTEREUR (Outstanding Lake Stewardship Award) – In recognition of your extraordinary commitment, achievement, and lasting contributions to safeguard Squash Lake from the devastating impacts of Eurasian watermilfoil.   Your expertise and years of tireless efforts to remove each plant in the most environmentally sound method possible, has successfully protected the lakes ecosystem, recreational activities, fisheries, and property values for both now and future generations.

DAN BUTKUS (Outstanding Stewardship & Leadership Award) – For your extraordinary commitment, leadership contributions, and stewardship efforts towards protecting the ecosystems, recreational activities, fisheries, and property values of not just Squash Lake, but all of Wisconsin’s lakes! Your dedication and tireless effort are commendable and invaluable to the citizens of the lakes you strive to protect and to our entire Oneida County Partnership. 

DAVID NYCZ (Outstanding Stewardship & Leadership Award) – For over 15 years of extraordinary leadership contributions, commitment, education, and stewardship efforts that have protected the ecosystems, wildlife habitats, fisheries, recreation, and property values of Lake Nokomis. Your dedication and tireless efforts are inspiring, commendable, and invaluable to our lands and waters of Oneida County.
