2018 Clean Boats, Clean Waters Workshops Offered in Oneida County
YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE! Consider joining CBCW watercraft inspectors working to protect our lakes!
With the growing concern over the spread of AIS to Wisconsin’s inland lakes, many lake association members and other concerned citizens are looking for ways to get involved. Since 2004, The Clean Boats, Clean Waters (CBCW) watercraft inspection program has been an opportunity for adults and youth to take a front-line defense against the spread of AIS. Through the CBCW program, teams of volunteers, lake residents, county board members, boat marina operators, fishing guides, realtors, various organizations, and concerned citizens have attended the workshops to learn how AIS threatens our waterbodies, why educational awareness is critical in preventing the spread of AIS, learned how to conduct watercraft inspections, and volunteered their time at local boat launches. The information and watercraft inspections that citizens provide at the boat landings has been an integral part of protecting Oneida County’s waterbodies.
As the 2018 boating season begins, the Oneida County AIS Team is gearing up to help both new and seasoned CBCW watercraft inspectors by hosting FIVE FREE CBCW workshops, held throughout the county.
